Miss the days of running to your boom box to press record when your favorite song came on the radio? Selecting the perfect mix of songs for your ride to work, your best friend's birthday... Those days are back.
Community Mixtape is a DJ workshop that blends the art of DJing (learn basic skills!) with musical storytelling. We weave our individual stories together through music. Each participant brings a song- we listen, hear the stories behind the music, and collectively create a DJ mix. All participants walk away with a copy of the Community Mixtape.
**Space is limited to 20 participants - advanced registration is highly recommended!
What to bring: January Edition is about YOUR VOICE. With so much negative speech leading up to the elections and the inauguration, maybe you've felt like the only way to be heard is to SHOUT! There's another way too- music! What's that song that says "me." Maybe makes you walk a little taller, prouder, feeling better in your own skin- untouchable to the negativity around you.
